Lake Dillon Fire officials: Inspect “toe-kick” heaters for fire hazard

Lake Dillon Fire officials would like to encourage all residents and homeowners to inspect any “toe-kick” heaters in their properties in the aftermath of a dangerous fire last week at a duplex in the Keystone Ranch neighborhood.

The unit believed to have started the fire had been the subject of a manufacturer’s recall, but it is possible that many Summit County property owners were not aware of the recall nor the potential for fire.

Please have any such heaters professionally inspected, cleaned and maintained. The units typically are installed under cabinets in kitchens and bathrooms and look like this: toe kick heater
