Minor fire in Silverthorne, one slightly injured

A heating, ventilation and air conditioning worker soldering some pipes above the ceiling of the Tanglewood Plaza building in Silverthorne inadvertently sparked a fire in some insulation Monday afternoon.

Firefighters from Lake Dillon Fire and Red, White & Blue Fire were called to 265 Tanglewood Lane, which houses the High Country Health Care clinic, about 1:45 p.m. Crews on scene found the building being evacuated. The fire was extinguished by the HVAC worker and a clinic employee using fire extinguishers.

The HVAC worker was treated for minor breathing difficulties on scene by medics with the Summit County Ambulance Service.

A total of 12 firefighters performed a thorough check of the building for any remaining hot spots and turned the building over to its owners. Silverthorne Police assisted with scene security and traffic control, including temporarily closing a portion of Tanglewood Drive.
